RUBEN NOGUERA's Obituary
PERRY –
Ruben Basilio Noguera-Dure, 74, passed away unexpectedly on his birthday, Tuesday, January 9, 2024, after a sudden illness. At his request, there will not be a service.
Ruben earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Lynchburg College, a Master’s Degree from University of Florida, and his PhD. From University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He enjoyed teaching Spanish for many years and retired from Fort Valley State University in 2005. After his retirement, he accepted a position with Pearson working from home grading SAT and GRE exams, which he was still doing.
Ruben was preceded in death by his parents, Ireneo Noguera and Antolina Dure; and a sister, Flora Noguera.
Left to cherish the memories they made with Ruben are his devoted husband of seven years, Charles Layman, II of Perry; his siblings, Carlos Gorostiaga (Raquel) of Lynchburg, VA, Alfonso Noguera (Celia) of Paraguay, Mirtha Noguera of Paraguay, and Alcides Noguera of Macon; his mother-in-law, Particia Brown of Cochran; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
