Roy Allen McElmurray's Obituary

Roy Allen McElmurray, 80, passed away at his home on Sunday, April 13, 2014, surrounded by his loving family. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, April 17, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel at Watson-Hunt Funeral Home. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery immediately following the service. Visitation will be on Wednesday, April 16, 2014, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Watson-Hunt Funeral Home.
Roy was born in Houston County to the late Joseph L. and Maybelle Avery McElmurray. He proudly served our country in the U. S. Marines and retired from Robins Air Force Base, with service time combined of 34 years. He was an avid coon hunter, winning many trophies in several states. He was a lifetime member of National Plott Hound Association. All hunters knew him as "The Plott Man". He was preceded in death by one son, Steve McElmurray; a brother, Joe McElmurray; and a sister, Florene Nutt.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Mary Ruth McElmurray; two sons, Royce McElmurray (Marilee) and Keith McElmurray (Lynn); two daughters, Julie Hughes (Donnie) and Sarah O'Neal (Steve); three sisters, Jerri Stembridge, Dorothy McElmurray, and Martha Murray; three brothers, Claude McElmurray, Ancil McElmurray, and Donnie McElmurray; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
