Roger was born in Hawkinsville to the late Benjamin Lewis, Jr. and Betty Snow Lewis. He grew up there and graduated from Hawkinsville High School. He proudly served our country in the National Guard for six years. Roger was a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Haynesville. He worked in various restaurants and in the food service industry all of his life. He enjoyed being the manager at IHOP in Macon for years, and his most recent time was spent as the manager at Ruby Tuesday in Dublin. A hard-worker and caring provider for his family, Roger's time away from work was precious to him, and he spent all of it with his family and at church, the two things he loved the most. He treasured the moments watching his three daughters grow up and begin families of their own, all the while working even harder for his wife to be a stay-at-home-mother and grandmother. Roger liked to work on old trucks, and taught each of his daughters the basics of mechanics when they were his "helpers" in the back yard. He was preceded in death by his brother Jim "Mac" Lewis.
Left to cherish the memories of "Daddy" are his best friend, comforter, and caregiver, his wife of 37 years, Vickie Moore Lewis of Haynesville; his daughters, Gamble Greathouse (Mike) of Centerville, Jenna Holland (Andy) of Warner Robins, and Jaime Winchester (A. J.) of Haynesville; his grandchildren, Barry Brian Holland, a little girl "on the way", Bailey Winchester, Joey Greathouse, and Jason Greathouse; his sister, Sharon Lewis of Hawkinsville; his brothers, John Lewis (Shirley) of Hawkinsville, Ben Lewis (Bonnie) of Centerville, and Dennis Lewis (Peggy) of Statesboro; his mother-in-law, JoAnn Moore of Haynesville; and several nieces and nephews.
Condolences may be left for the family in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com.
