Robert Dennis Vickery of Jasper, FL, Naples, FL, and Bonaire, GA, passed away on Friday, September 11, 2015, at Perry Hospital in Perry, GA. A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. in Evergreen Cemetery, in Jasper, FL with Rev. Roger Hutto of First Baptist Church Jasper, FL, officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Fort Myers Baptist Children’s Home, 3750 Colonial Blvd., Fort Myers, FL 33966, www.fbchomes.org or Georgia Baptist Children’s Homes, P.O. He was born May 9, 1934, in Jasper, FL, the eldest son of the late Roscoe Dennis and Jessie Mae Satcher Vickery. Dennis joined First Baptist Church of Jasper, FL, at a young age and kept his membership there throughout his life. A graduate of Jasper High School, he attended University of Florida. Mr. Vickery proudly served our country in the U.S. Marine Corps for 5 years attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant (E-5). Mr. Vickery retired from Occidental Chemical Company as an electrician at the phosphate plant in Hamilton County, FL. Dennis was preceded in death by his older sister, Marjorie Vickery Croft, and niece, Vicki Croft.
Survivors include his brother, James Vickery (Barbara Ann Walker), and sister, Virginia Vickery Kennedy (Joseph). “Uncle Den” was a favorite to his surviving nieces and nephews, Hal Croft (Julia Reid), Bob Croft (Melody Mix), Mark Croft (Velma Vidan), Melissa Vickery Rose (Tim), Margery Vickery Bernhardt (Jeremy), Rebecca Vickery Larocque (Doug), Richard Kennedy (Michelle Ballard), and Allen D. Kennedy (Rebecca Kennedy); 17 grandnieces and grandnephews; and 4great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews.
