Life Legacy
PERRY-Robert "Bobby" Satterfield, 85, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 6, 2018, in the comfort of his home surrounded by family. Visitation will be on Wednesday, January 10, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. in the sanctuary at First Baptist Church of Perry. A Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Andersonville National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions to one of the following: ABBA House of Perry, First Baptist Church of Perry, The Shriners' Hospital, or St. Jude's Children's Hospital.Bobby was born in Perry in 1932 to the late John & Eris Satterfield, the third of five children. His love for basketball earned him a spot on the prestigious team of "Fessor's Boys", the Perry Panthers teams coached by Coach Eric P. Staples. He joined the Air Force in 1950 where he proudly served in the Korean Conflict and was a member of the 23rd Air Transport Squadron. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. After his service, he attended Mercer University where he met the love of his life, Sara Newsome. The couple married, and he remained a devoted and loving husband for 58 years. He retired from Robins Air Force Base with a career that spanned over forty years with duty assignments in Africa and Asia as well as various locations in the United States. Throughout his life, he was involved in and a member of the Al Sihah Shriners and the Free Masons, and was actively involved at First Baptist Church of Perry. He was preceded in death by his brothers, John Satterfield, Frank Satterfield; and his sister, Rebecca Satterfield.He is survived by his wife, Sara; his brother, Harris Satterfield (Betty Jean); his children, Nick Satterfield (Cheryl), Renee Satterfield Uhlir (John), and Lee Satterfield (Gabriel L'Heureux); his grandchildren, Nikolas Satterfield, Courtney Rogers (A.J.) and William Satterfield; his great grandchildren, Bentley and Chelsey Rogers; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.Condolences for the family may be left in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com.
