Life Legacy
PERRY-Robert Arthur "R.A." Williams, 87, passed away on Sunday, September 11, 2016, after an extended illness. The family will visit with friends on Tuesday, September 13, 2016, from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. at Watson-Hunt Funeral Home. A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, September 14, 2016, at 5:00 p.m. in Perry Memorial Gardens. R.A. requested that everyone in attendance at his service be dressed in their most comfortable and casual attire.Mr. Williams was born in Macon to the late Thomas Newton Williams and the late Beatrice Perdue Williams. He grew up in Oaky Woods and began working at a young age. He drove an ambulance for Gardner Watson Funeral Home in his early years, then Schwerman's Trucking Company, and Benton Films Express, delivering films and movies to various theatres. R.A. began working at and later retired from McGhee Carpet Company, but he continued working in the same building for Briggs and Stratton when McGhee closed. After Briggs and Stratton closed, he enjoyed saying he "outlived the businesses" that were in that building. Through the years, and particularly in his retirement years, R.A. enjoyed gardening. Later in life, he began working on golf carts and selling golf carts as a hobby with his son, Mike. In 1999, together they started Mike's Golf Carts, which has continued to grow and thrive under R.A.'s direction. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Cornelia "Toots" Williams; 2 sons, Randy Williams and Jerry Williams; a grandson, Allen Williams; a sister, Sara Hunter; and 4 brothers, Richard Williams, George T. "Bo" Williams, James Williams, and Earl Williams.Left to cherish the memories of R.A. are two sons and their wives, Terry and Ann Williams, and Mike and Angela Williams, all of Perry; his grandchildren, Risa Haines (Ryan), Terryn Williams, Logen Williams, and Coleman Williams; 3 great-grandchildren; his siblings, Fred Williams, Evelyn Rackley, Elizabeth Coldiron, Susie Ann Johnson, Karen Edwards, Bobby Williams, and Jeannie Bass; and many nieces and nephews.Condolences for the family may be left in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com.
