Robert Marien's Obituary
Robert “Buzz” Charles Marien, age 86, passed away on February 2, 2017 in the comfort of his home. Buzz was born on February 5, 1930 in St. Paul, Minnesota. After graduating from Harding High School he attended The University of Minnesota where he would earn his Masters in History. Through the years, he worked in various fields including teaching, human resources and insurance but always maintained interest in his studies, scholarly pursuits and achievements. He always excelled in his hobbies such as gardening, photography, theatre, karaoke, painting and baking very complicated pies (just to name a few). His family biasedly agrees though that the love and dedication he showed as a husband, father and grandfather was his greatest achievement of all. A calm and unshakeable man, he was always there for his family. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Jeanette Young Marien, daughter, Aleen Marien Moran, son-in-law, Dennis Moran, parents George Marien and Katherine Holub Marien, and brother, William Marien. He is survived by his two sons Marc Marien and Blaise (Barbara Ferry) Marien, granddaughters Katrina (Richard Jacobs) Moran Churchman, Christina (James II) Marien Green, and Cecilia (Robert) Marien Clingerman, great grandchildren Payton, Isaac, and Luella Churchman, James Green III, and Agape Clingerman. He also leaves behind his loving and faithful dog, Queenie the Weenie, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. A memorial mass will be held Friday, February 24, 2017 at 11:00 AM at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church Arrangements under the direction of Serenity Funeral Home, Theodore, AL.
