Richard "Ricky" Basil Cooney Sr.'s Obituary
Age 55, passed unexpectantly at home on Saturday, July 23, 2016 in Irvington, AL. Ricky was a dedicated 35 year employee at Chevron Refinery in Pascagoula, MS. He enjoyed the company and the friendship of his many co-workers. Rick loved his family more than anything and most of all being a PopPop to his granddaughters. He will be dearly missed. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, JB and Alice Volnoff (Irvington) and Jack and Corrine Cooney (PA). He is survived by his parents, Jim and Barbara Cooney, wife of 35 years, Lisa, sons, Richard Jr. (QJuana), Nicholas (Kristen), and Corbin (Ericka), granddaughters, Norah and Evangeline, brothers, Jimmy (Evelyn) and Paul (Joni), sisters, Victoria Guy (Pat) and Pamela Gibson (Eddie), nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Funeral service will be held at First Evangelical Methodist Church (11329 Padgett Switch Rd.) on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at 2pm with visitation from 12 noon until service time. Interment will be in Oddfellow Cemetery (Bayou La Batre, AL). Brother Kevin Brouillette will be officiating the ceremony. In leiu of flowers please send a donation in Ricky’s honor to St. Mary’s home and/or Wilmer Hall.
