RHETT SHAW's Obituary
PORT ST. JOE, FL. –
William Rhett Shaw, formerly of Perry, Georgia, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, April 20, 2024, just a few weeks after his seventeenth birthday. Family and friends will gather to celebrate his life on Thursday, April 25, 2024, at Cross Point Church of Perry. The Celebration of Life Service will begin at 5:30 p.m. with Jason Beck officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions to Cross Point Church Youth Ministry, 645 Perry Parkway, Perry, GA 31069.
Rhett was born on April 2, 2007, in Macon, Georgia. His family lived in Perry, Georgia, for the first eleven and a half years of his life. Rhett loved his church, Cross Point Perry, and was actively involved in the Kids’ Ministry there. As a young boy, Rhett knew that Jesus paid it all for our sins and accepted God as his Lord and Savior at Camp Winshape in Warner Robins. He was baptized soon after at Cross Point Perry by Dr. Jeremy Morton, a strong influence in his Christian foundation. Like most boys, Rhett loved being outside and enjoyed hunting, fishing, baseball, and eventually football. Playing little league baseball at Ochlahatchee/Perry Junior League is where his love of the game began, and after a few years on various talented and very competitive teams, Rhett was excited to play in the Dixie League World Series. He attended Tucker Elementary School for several years. A smart and caring student, he was chosen by his teachers and administrators as 5th Grade Student of the Year based on his grades, his kindness to other students, and his citizenship within his school community. Perry Middle School brought new adventures for Rhett including changing classes during the day and football practice in the afternoon. The heat and the gnats in Georgia never stopped the hard work and determination that he had to help his team win.
After the Christmas of his 7th Grade year, Rhett’s family relocated to Port St. Joe, Florida. He continued to excel in school and made every effort to support his parents’ decision to move. His love for Perry, his school, his church, and his friends never wavered. Perry was home to Rhett, and he never gave up the dreams of one day returning to Perry, Georgia. Now Rhett sits at the feet of Jesus and walks the streets of gold waiting to be reunited one day with all those who knew and loved him.
Rhett was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Barbara Wood.
Left to cherish the memories they made with Rhett are his loving and devoted parents, Lee and April Shaw of Port St. Joe, Florida; his sister and brother-in-law, Jolie and Seth Creamer of Hawkinsville; his brother, Chesley Shaw of Bossier City, Louisiana; his nephew, Kasey Creamer of Hawkinsville; his maternal grandfather, Henry Wood of McGehee, Arkansas; his paternal grandparents, Harley and Bonnie Shaw of Shreveport, Louisiana; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Condolences for the family may be left in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com.
