Mom (Mary Wilson) and I write you with heartfelt condolences at this sad time. We both were shocked seeing his name in the obits and wish we had learned of his passing sooner. He was an outstanding coach and a very special person!
I had the privilege of having Coach Mims as a teacher in the eighth grade. On occasion, usually in the grocery store, I have seen him over the years and he always remembered me which touched my heart. He was a great teacher and a wonderful person. My sympathy and prayers are with you all.
So very sorry to hear the sad news. Please know, Charlie and I are keeping you and your family in our thoughts and prayers.Love,Diane and Charles
Few people leave lasting impressions on ones life. Coach Mims was one of these people. I was blessed to have him as my coach for three years, have him for a football coach and have him for my home room teacher.I was lucky enough to see him a year ago (for the first time since the 70's). We had a long visit and I am truly blessed to have seen him again. I have spent much time remembering him and will truly miss the man. My prayers are for the family and community. Perry has truly lost an icon.
Sincere condolences to Coach Mims' family. He was an outstanding asset to Perry High School, and was loved by all his students.
So sorry of Coach Mim's passing, praying for peace and comfort for the family.
A great friend and a great teammate.Wayne SmithGSU '60
