Phoebe Jane Weiss' Obituary
Mrs. Phoebe Jane Weiss, age 92, a resident of Mobile for 63 years, left this life to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 1, 2014. Mrs. Weiss was born on Dec. 18, 1921, in Grand Ridge, Fla., and moved to Mobile in 1951. She was a long-time member of Bellingrath Road Baptist Church. Mrs. Weiss was preceded in death by a loving and caring husband Jack C. Hawkins; her second husband George Evans Weiss; a daughter, Sue Delores Mosley Chapman; two brothers and six sisters. She was a loving mother to Jackie (Charles) McLeod of Theodore, Ala., Dr. Jack (Janice) Hawkins, Jr., of Troy, Ala., and Tom (Sandra) Hawkins of Mobile. She was Nanny to 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Margaret (Henry) Whitaker of Theodore, and many loving relatives and friends. Pallbearers will be Boyd Busby, Kaleb Busby, Brock Eddins, Glen Eddins, Jay Hawkins, and Tommy Hawkins. Honorary pallbearers will be Winston, Mosley, State Rep. Alan Boothe, Bruce Higdon, Dr. Don Jeffrey, D.J. Mangham, Bob Mason, Dr. Doug Patterson, Dick Pridgeon, Jason Rojeski, and Dr. John Schmidt. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Bellingrath Road Baptist Church, 10827 Bellingrath Rd. Theodore, AL 36582. Funeral service will held at Serenity Funeral Home on Saturday, July 5, 2014 at 2 pm with visitation starting from 12:30 until service time. Interment will be in Serenity Memorial Gardens.
