Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m., and the Memorial Service will begin at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions to Jay’s HOPE Childhood Cancer Foundation, helping families who are trying to maintain some sense of family normalcy while continuously caring for a child with cancer. The mailing address for Jay’s HOPE is 1157B Forsyth Road, Macon, GA 31201.
Craig was born in Albany, Georgia, on November 11, 1968. Craig learned to work in the grocery store meat department and became a skilled butcher, working at Ingles in Cumming and at Harvey’s and Publix in Valdosta. He enjoyed fishing and was an avid fan of the Georgia Bulldogs and the Atlanta Braves. Playing chess was one of his favorite things to do regularly. Craig was a deep thinker with a kind soul. He had a quick wit about him, and his comments were carefully selected to make others feel better. Through all of the trials and tribulations of his life, Craig made awareness to those around him of his thoughts and feelings about judging others. He would point out that no one knows “their story of why they are where they are.” Paying it forward when he could to those in need became Craig’s personal goal and desire for everyone else who is capable. Craig attended Dasher Church of Christ when in Valdosta.
Craig was predeceased by his parents, Mary Fuller Hardin and Phillip Glenn Stamps; his beloved paternal grandmother, Winifred Duke Stamps; and a sister, Anna McCray.
Survivors include his sisters, Glenda Camaret (Michael) of Cumming, Dorothy Moxley (Michael) of Valdosta, Kellie Roach (Matt Velazquez) of Gahanna, Ohio, and Gayle Watkins (Stevie) of Smithstation, Alabama; his daughter, Chantille Blake Stamps, and his son, Debron Phillip Stamps, both of Grand Bay, Alabama; his nieces and nephews, Lauren Cedor, Jennifer Barber, Jason McLeod, Chelsea Kirkland, Allison Roach, Maddison Velazquez, Trey Purvis, Abby Watkins, and Cohen Watkins; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
Condolences for the family may be left in the online guestbook at https://www.watsonhunt.com. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home in Perry, Georgia, has been entrusted with the arrangements.
