Philip Alan Ziegler's Obituary

Philip Alan Ziegler, 75, passed away at his residence on Monday, January 28, with his loving wife by his side. A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the Christ's Lutheran Church on Langston Road in Perry, with Pastor John Lehenbauer officiating. Peggy Barkley will be the organist. Refreshments will be served after the service.
Mr. Zeigler was born on September 29, 1937 to Carl & Mildred Ziegler in Hillsdale, Michigan.
He was baptized at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hillsdale on Reformation Sunday, October 30, 1937. At age 12, he gave a profession of his faith in Jesus Christ as his Savior, on the day of his Confirmation, June 1, 1950.
Upon graduation from Hillsdale High School, he served four years in the United States Air Force. He attended Hillsdale College. He found employment in his hometown, and worked as a Purchasing Agent for Hillsdale Tool. He was a member of the Lions Club.
On May 6, 1983, he married Joan Cutler Hoekstra at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Blissfield, Michigan.
Upon retirement, Phil and Joan relocated to Naples, Florida.
In 2005, the Zieglers moved to Kathleen. They became charter members of Christ Lutheran Church in Perry, where Phil served as an Elder and also sang in the choir. Phil and Joan have been active volunteers with Thee Lord's Table since around the time this organization began serving free Friday luncheons to the community in 2007.
In November, 2012, Phil was diagnosed with bone cancer. He was called to his heavenly home on Monday, January 29, 2013.
Phil was preceded in death by his parents, as well as two brothers and one sister. He is survived by his wife, Joan, as well as one sister, Mary (Jim) Cook.
Jesus said, "I am the Resurrection and the Life. He who believes in Me will live, even though he dies. And whoever lives and believes in Me will never die." John 11:25-26 This was also Phil Ziegler's profession of faith.
