PAUL KAY COSEY's Obituary
PERRY –
Paul Kay Cosey, 89, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 10, 2023. Services will be held on Thursday, October 12, 2023, at Perry United Methodist Church. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. and will be followed by the memorial service at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Tom Carruth officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions to Crowell Cemetery Fund, 2177 Roberta Highway, Reynolds, GA 31076.
Kay was born in Byron to the late Willie and Thelma Dugger Cosey. He grew up in Crowell, Georgia, near Butler, and graduated from Butler High School in 1952. He worked in Civil Service at Robins Air Force Base as a Logistics Manager for over thirty years. Kay was a long-time, active member of Perry United Methodist Church where he was an usher and a member of the IHS Sunday School Class. All of his life, Kay loved to play tennis. He taught tennis lessons for many years in Perry and was a member of the U. S. Tennis Association. He played tennis regularly until he was 82 years old. Kay helped older people prepare their tax returns every year in the spring. When his son was young, he helped coach little league baseball and was a leader for Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. Kay loved his community and was honored to have served on the Perry Planning and Zoning Board.
Kay was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Hylard Cosey, Lewis Cosey, and Dugger Cosey; and a sister, Thelma Watson.
Left to cherish the memories they made with Kay are his devoted wife of 68 years, Nellie Cosey of Perry; his children, Sharon Henson (Jay) of Peachtree City, Karon Mitchell (Mark) of Albany, Cindy Cosey, and Robby Cosey of Marshallville; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and his sisters, Sylvia Swain and Charlotte Hammack, both of Butler; and several nieces and nephews.
