Patricia Dianne Fitzpatrick's Obituary
Patricia Dianne Jarvis Fitzpatrick (78), native of Semmes, Alabama, and long time resident of Sanford, Florida, passed peacefully into the presence of God, surrounded by her children, on Wednesday, July 13th, 2016, in Mobile, Alabama, after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease.Born to parents, Henry Jarvis and Ida Jo Lee Jarvis, Dianne attended and graduated Semmes School. She eventually met and married William Randolph “Billy” Averett and together they had four children. In the early years, Dianne was very involved in serving at Navco Baptist Church. She passionately played piano and organ, helped with Bible school, Sunday School, and choir. This time at Navco was instrumental in building a strong spiritual foundation for her children. In later years, the family relocated to Orlando, Florida, where Dianne went to work in Food and Beverage management, eventually opening her own “Mom and Pop” restaurant. After traveling the country together, she and her second husband Terry Fitzpatrick settled in Sanford, Florida where she went back to school, earning a business degree at Rollins College. Dianne then enjoyed a long and fulfilling career as Insurance and Human Resources Executive with Restaurant Administrative Services based in Winter Park, Florida. After retirement, and a diagnosis of Parkinson’s Disease, she moved back to Mobile. Dianne enjoyed having fun in life. She enjoyed being around people, dancing, and socializing. She loved her job and the people she worked with. While in Florida, she was an avid NBA fan, always having season tickets for the Orlando Magic, taking friends, children, and grandchildren to Magic games, and was known for being very vocal in the stands. She also loved taking her kids and grandkids to the theme parks in Central Florida. Great memories were made while visiting “Granny” in Florida. She was a big Elvis fan and loved music. She enjoyed hearing her daughter’s band perform. Dianne was proud of all her children and grandchildren.Back in Mobile, Dianne began attending Christ United Methodist Church where she formed strong bonds with her Bible Study group. She enjoyed spending time playing Scrabble with her friends and becoming more closely involved with her children and family. She also loved her pets. Dianne is preceded in death by husband, Terrence Fitzpatrick and brothers: Edmund Jarvis and Milton Jarvis. She is survived by four children: Benita Murphy (Pat), Randy Averett (Linda), Patricia Averett, JoEllen Averett (Michael Graham); six grandchildren: Sean Murphy, Adam Clay, Ashley Clay Walvatne, Kipren Martin, Austin Averett, Lorren Martin, and seven great grandchildren. Dianne is also survived by siblings: Glo Jarvis Johnson and Terry Jarvis, as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives, and former husband, friend, and father of her children, Bill Averett.Memorial Service to be held on Saturday, July 23rd, at Christ United Methodist Church.Visitation at 10:00 a.m. ~ Service at 11:00 a.m.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to local charity organizations: Home Of Grace for Women, Mobile, AL - http://homeofgraceforwomen.com .The Mobile Chapter of the SPCA - http://www.mobilespca.org/
