Mrs. Crowe was born in Telfair County to the late T. Watson and Maggie Lee Powell Davis. She moved to the area when her husband took a job with Robins Air Force Base around the beginning of World War II. Always a homemaker, she spent most of her time creating the perfect home enviornment in which to raise her children and love her family. And love her family, she did. Her daughters remember as children their friends visiting and "playing dress-up" with their mother's clothes. Mrs. Crowe always had certain shoes that were "off limits" and ones that the girls could enjoy. She was a member for years at First Baptist Church of Marshallville. As the family grew, Mrs. Crowe's grandchildren continued with the same tradition of "playing dress-up" with Grandmama's clothes. She was known by her family as the "best cook in the world" and enjoyed Sunday lunches together for years. In the early 1990's, she moved her membership to First Baptist Church in Perry. A gracious woman with a sweet, sweet spirit, she will be dearly missed by those who knew her. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 61 years, John Henry Crowe; her brother, Clarence Davis; and her sister, Leonis Tomberlin.
Left to cherish the wonderful memories are her children, Guy Crowe of Kathleen, Kenneth Crowe (Doris) of Lilburn, Carl Crowe (Teresa) of Lakeland, FL, Sandra McGowan, and Karen Akridge (Steve), both of Perry; her siblings, Eschol Davis, Lurene Parrish, Strozier Davis (Ann), and Ralph Davis (Sue); ten grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to leave a special memory or condolences for the family in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com.
