Olen H Allen's Obituary
Perry Olen H. Allen, passed away on Thursday, March 29, 2018 at the Perry Hospital. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m on Saturday, March 31, 2018 at the First Baptist Church in Perry. Interment will follow at Orange Hill Cemetery in Hawkinsville. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. prior to the service. The family suggests contributions be made to the First Baptist Church of Perry or to the donor’s favorite charity. Mr. Allen was born in Dooly County and was the son of the late Leonard Wimberly and Donnie Griffin Allen. He moved to Perry from Atlanta in 1978. He proudly served his country in the United States Army in Okinawa during World War II. Olen owned and operated Allen Construction and was a well-respected builder in our community. He also worked for Mellco and assisted in developing Mellco Plantation in Elko. Mr. Allen was a member of Perry First Baptist Church and he served as a Deacon. He enjoyed fishing with his family, working with wood, and making bird boxes. Left to cherish his memory are his children; Mark Allen (Charlotte) of Holly Lake Ranch, Texas, Jere Allen of Jackson, Georgia, mentored like a son, Kelynn Peavy of Winston-Salem, N.C.; a special pal, Dee Peavy; a very special and cherished lady, Martha Peavy; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, V. Esther Allen, and siblings, Ish Allen, L.J. Allen, Oscar Allen, Onnie Cross, Berlin Allen, and Iris Edwards.
