Novella 'Kay' Painter's Obituary
KATHLEEN, GA- Novella “Kay” Painter died Tuesday, April 3, 2018, in Atlanta, GA, due to complications following surgery. She was 74. Her life will be celebrated at a Memorial Service on Friday, April 6, 2018, at 3:00 p.m. at Watson-Hunt Funeral Home in Perry. All are welcome to attend and celebrate her life. We will be picking a place to eat after the service at or around 5:30 Friday evening. Mrs Kay Painter was born on December 27, 1943, in Anderson, Indiana, to her parents, Elmer and Iona Hymer. She graduated from Beauty School in 1973. She married Mark Painter in 1989 in Indiana and they moved to Georgia in 1996. Kay retired after many years of cutting hair where she touched more than follicles but touched peoples’ lives by investing time by a listening ear, loving guidance, a warm smile, and a characteristic laugh. Kay’s happiest moments were spent when she was showing love to the grandchildren where the favorite grandchild was the one in front of her. She loved babies and sharing first times of anything with them. Mark and Kay shared a blended family of children. Kay was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Madge Underwood; and her brother, Abe Hymer. Mrs. Kay Painter is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 30 years, Mark Painter; her daughters, Yavanda Rogers, Thelma Orick, Jackie Bolton, Alisha Painter, and Sarah Studebaker; her son and Daughter-in-law, Todd and Heather Driggers; her brother, Mark Hymer; her sisters, Patricia Drake, Linda Bledsoe, Barbara Hymer, and Diane Smith (Clarence); eleven grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Condolences for the family may be left in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
