Interment will be on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. in Andersonville National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions to Houston County Public Libraries, 1201 Washington Street, Perry, Georgia 31069.
Norma was born on May 2, 1939, in Marshallville to the late William Ellis and Jessie Newberry Skipper. She graduated from Fort Valley High School in 1957, and also attended Los Angeles City College and Clark County Community College in Las Vegas, NV. Norma began working as a clerk-typist at Robins Air Force Base in 1957, taking brief leaves of absence when her children were born. She retired in 2001 as an Aircraft Records Clerk for the C-130 System Program Office to care for her granddaughter. Norma traveled and supported her husband as an Air Force wife for fifteen years. She loved gardening and enjoyed raising and preserving food for her family. She always had a book in her hand if she was sitting still, whether it be one to read or a good book of crossword puzzles. Norma delighted in refinishing furniture, especially those pieces that she knew were diamonds in the rough. Her greatest passion in life, though, was her family, and she spent a great deal of time loving and spoiling her granddaughter. Norma was a member of Second Memorial Baptist Church in Perry.
Norma was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, William Ellis Skipper, Jr., Clyde Louis Skipper, Louise Skipper George, Jackie Skipper, and Charlene Skipper Booker.
Left to cherish the memories they made with Norma are her loving and devoted husband of fifty-eight years, Wilfred Kusuda of Perry; her children, Kathie Stone (John) of Bonaire, Sandy Kusuda (Greg Winchester) of Perry, and Kevin Kusuda (Deidria) of San Antonio, TX; her granddaughter, Sarah Natsue Stone of Orlando, FL; her sister-in-law, Barbara Skipper; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Condolences for the family may be left in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
