Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m., and the Memorial Service will begin at 11:00 a.m. Inurnment will be in Tippettville Baptist Church Cemetery, 6776 Tippettville Road, Vienna, Georgia, immediately following the service. Norma was born in Dooly County on April 23, 1941, to the late Robert and Junnie Chastain Akins. A graduate of Vienna High School, she also graduated from Crandall Business College. She moved to Perry when she was thirty years old. Norma worked with Civil Service as a Management Analyst at Robins Air Force Base and retired after thirty-two years of service. She was a member of First Christian Church. Playing Bridge and Canasta were her favorite card games that she enjoyed regularly. Each week, she and her special friends gathered at one of their homes to visit, usually eating great Southern, homemade fixin’s, watching television or playing cards, and laughing. To them, laughter was the best medicine. Just being together and being there for each other strengthened their friendships through the years. Norma’s greatest passion in life, however, was her family and being with them.
Norma was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Buddy Akins; and her loving and devoted husband of fifteen years, Curtis Conner.
Left to cherish the memories they made with Norma are her loving and devoted son and daughter-in-law, Wes and Liz Goodroe of Marietta; her grandson, Mason Goodroe of Wichita, Kansas; her granddaughter, Brooke Conner Pittman (Tony) of Dublin; her great-grandchildren, Layla Giddens, Landon Giddens, Lilee Giddens, and Rose Giddens; a special niece, Betty Smith (Mike) of Bismark, North Dakota; her niece, Amy Akins Fore (Marty) of Crisp County; her nephew, Robbie Akins (Kim) of Uvalda; and several other nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Condolences for the family may be left in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
