Nancy May Krater Wallick was born on September 14, 1943, in Reading, Pennsylvania, the second of four children, to the late Floyd and Marion Krater. Her father worked as an Engineer with the railroad, and her mother was a homemaker. The family moved to Port Carbon, Pennsylvania, when Nancy was five years old, and that is where she spent her “growing-up” years. After graduating from Pottsville High School in 1961, she moved to Washington DC where she worked in the Library of Congress. She married Nicholas Wallick on September 29, 1962, and eventually moved back to Pennsylvania. Before having children, she worked in an Insurance agency. After the birth of their four children, Nancy worked in a local Textile and Sewing plant that was within walking distance of her home with the children. She worked there for twenty-five years as part of management, as a Manager of Customer Service and Data Entry, also filling in for the Warehouse Manager. She was also in charge of Inventory Control. The company eventually closed, and Nancy retired at the age of 60. While in Pennsylvania, Nancy was a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church of Port Carbon, Pennsylvania, where she sang in the choir and served in various offices. She was very active and enjoyed preparing food for many events at the church. She was a member of the Schuylkill Haven American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, and a Member of the Amvets Ladies Auxiliary.
After retirement, Nancy worked part-time in an elementary school lunchroom. When her knees began to give her problems, that job came to an end. She came for a visit to Georgia, liked it, and eventually moved to Perry in 2013. Upon moving to Georgia, Nancy became a member of Christ Lutheran Church of Perry. She was very active at Christ Lutheran until health caused her to find other ways to assist. She baked delicious cakes and pies for the volunteers serving Thee Lord’s Table, a weekly home cooked meal. It was Nancy’s way of showing appreciation for their efforts and her way of continuing to serve others. She truly had a servant’s heart.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents; an infant sister, Dorothy Krater; her brother, Floyd Henry Krater Jr.; and a granddaughter, Andi Wallick.
Left to cherish the memories they made with Nancy are her children, son and daughter-in-law, Nicholas and Josette Wallick of Goodyear, Arizona, daughter and son-in-law, Nicola and Thomas Bruno of Warner Robins, Georgia, son, Nyle Wallick, and son and daughter-in-law, Nevin and Tara Wallick, all of Pottsville, Pennsylvania; her grandchildren, Audrey Wallick, Brittani Jones, Trenton Bruno, Trevor Bruno, Danica Wallick, Chase Wallick, and Casen Wallick; her great-grandchildren, Graysen, Indi, and Callen Jones of Georgia,
and Auro Wallick of Goodyear, Arizona; and her sister, Vanessa Mihoda of Port Carbon, Pennsylvania.
Condolences for the family may be left in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home in Perry, Georgia, has been entrusted with the arrangements.
