MICHAEL FORTSON's Obituary
BYRON – Michael Dean Fortson, 71, passed away on Friday, January 15, 2021. A private Graveside Service will be held at Perry Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers and other items of comfort, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions to Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, 111 Dollywood Lane, Pigeon Forge, TN, 37863.
Michael was born in Albertville, Alabama, to the late Jesse and Clara Hodges Fortson. He grew up in Warner Robins and graduated from Warner Robins High School. He attended Georgia Southern College and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Georgia College. Michael proudly served our country in the U.S. Air Force Reserve. He worked for Civil Service at Robins Air Force Base, and he retired after thirty-seven years. He was a member of Byron Baptist Church for thirty years and was an avid reader.
Survivors include his wife, Bonnie King Fortson of Byron; three children, Robert, Amanda, and Jesse; his grandchildren; and a brother, William Fortson of Ft. Valley.
