PERRY-Mary Eolyne Shannon Tolleson, 91, passed away on Wednesday, October 26, 2016. A private burial was held at Evergreen Cemetery. A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, November 6, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. at Perry Presbyterian Church. The family will visit with friends immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions to Perry Presbyterian Church, P. O. Box 574, Perry, GA 31069.Mary Eolyne was born in Jeffersonville, Georgia, to the late James Douglas Shannon and the late Lily Wall Shannon on November 21, 1924. She was Valedictorian of her High School class, graduated with an Associates Degree from North Georgia College in Dahlonega, received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Mercer University, and a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration from the University of Georgia. She was a member of Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority, Perry Presbyterian Church, Afternoon Circle, Sorrelle Club, Daughters of the American Revolution, Supper Club, and Book Club. She taught school briefly after moving to Perry. Mary was an avid reader and loved poetry. She was loved by many and was known for her beautiful smile and sweet personality. She was a homemaker and devoted wife for 65 years to her late husband, "Buck". Mary also lost her daughter, Laurie Ann, in 2002. She looked forward to being reunited with her upon her death, and her strong faith assured her of this. Her loving brother, James D. Shannon, Jr., predeceased her also. Left to cherish the memories of Mary are her devoted sister and brother-in-law, Laurie and Dr. Ferd Kay; her daughters, Mary McKenzie of Perry, and Gelle Leonard (Greg) of Macon; and her son, Ross Tolleson (Sally) of Perry. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Kibbie Fullington (Brian) of Macon, Ashley Cozart (Jacob) of Macon, Andy McKenzie (Dana) of Perry, Clay McKenzie (Christina) of Atlanta, Tripp Tolleson (Brittany), Ansley Tolleson, and Kelly Tolleson, all of Perry; and seven great-grandchildren, Montgomery and Camden Fullington, Mary Leland and Molly Cozart, Millie and Ilah Cate McKenzie, and Hunter McKenzie.Condolences for the family may be left in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com.
