MARY CHAPMAN BECHAM's Obituary
PERRY –
Mary Chapman Becham, 88, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 24, 2020, after an extended illness. The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 27, 2020, from 5:00 until 6:00 p.m. at Watson-Hunt Funeral Home. A private burial at Perry Memorial Gardens will be held for the family where she will be laid to rest with her late husband. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions to the charity of the donor’s choice.
Mary was born in Perry to the late Homer and Lillian Phillips Chapman. The last of five children, Mary was the baby sister to four older brothers who spoiled her when she was young and always protected her. She met the love of her life, William Becham, and they married in 1955. Mary spent her entire life as a homemaker, creating an inviting and loving environment in which to raise their only child. She enjoyed having plants and flowers on her porch and in their yard, and spent time encouraging and supporting their daughter in her activities and ventures, and always enjoyed listening to country music. Finally, when she was in her mid-sixties, their first and only grandson was born, and he was the apple of her eye. She loved being with her daughter, son-in-law, and grandson whenever she could. As her health declined past the point of her living independently at home, Mary moved to The Oaks in Marshallville where she would spend the last four years of her life. She was well cared for and loved by the staff, and her family is forever grateful.
Those left to cherish the memories of Mary are her loving and devoted daughter and son-in-law, Becky and Frank “Dee” Adkins of Perry; her beloved grandson, Bryant Adkins; and several nieces, nephews, and their families.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband of forty-five years, William Becham; and her brothers and sisters-in-law, Harris and Elizabeth Chapman, Tom and Mae Chapman, Bill and Aileene Chapman, and Howell Chapman.
Condolences for the family may be left in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
