MARTHA SANDERS GRIFFIN's Obituary
MARSHALLVILLE –
Martha Sanders Griffin, 71, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, May 12, 2021, after a brief battle with Covid-19. Services will be held on Saturday, May 15, 2021, at Watson-Hunt Funeral Home in Perry with the Visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. and the Memorial Service beginning at 11:00 a.m.
Martha was born in Foley, Florida, and lived in the Perry area her entire life. She was a graduate of Perry High School’s Class of 1967. Martha married her high school sweetheart, the love of her life, Marvin “Pete” Griffin, III. A homemaker all of her life, her enthusiasm to create a loving and encouraging home for her family was very evident. The love she had for her husband, children, and grandchildren was the truest kind and unconditional. She was a caring, compassionate, and thoughtful lady who was always taking care of others. Martha enjoyed the annual Griffin Family Reunion at Easter and was most disappointed that Covid kept them from celebrating together in 2021. She enjoyed yardwork, gardening, and preparing the bird feeders that lots of hummingbirds flocked to year after year. Watching their delicate wings hover around the feeders always put a smile on her face. Martha’s greatest joy in life, however, was being a grandmother. From the time “the boys” were born, she accepted every opportunity to babysit and spend time with them, encouraging and teaching them about various things in life as they grew into the fine young men that they are today.
Left to cherish the memories they made with Martha include her loving husband of fifty-three years, Marvin “Pete” Griffin, III, of Marshallville; her son and daughter-in-law, Jason and Karen Griffin of Senoia; her grandchildren, Trevor Griffin and Hudson Griffin; her sister, Teresa Sanders of Perry; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Frances Heard Sanders; her brother, Jerry Sanders; a sister, Linda Sanders Atkinson; and her son, Marvin “Qua” Griffin, IV.
Condolences for the family may be left in the online guestbook at wwww.watsonhunt.com. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home in Perry has been entrusted with the arrangements.
