Marlene was born July 28, 1960, in Raleigh, NC, and was a member of Christ’s Sanctified Holy Church. She graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from the Medical College of GA in Augusta. Marlene was a gentle, giving, hard worker and a great listener, and because of these special gifts, she had many friends and loved ones. She enjoyed life, but realized her purpose was to follow Christ. Marlene would sum it all up with Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 (KJV) “Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep His commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. For God shall bring every work into judgment with every secret thing, whether it be good or whether it be evil.” She was preceded in death by her father, Edward Lee Jernigan, Sr., and her twin sister, Ruby Charlene Jernigan.
Left to cherish the memories of Marlene are her mother, Sarah Cogar Jernigan; her brother Edward Lee Jernigan, Jr., and his wife, Susan South; her nephews, Jonathan Lee Jernigan and Edward Lee “Trey” Jernigan; and her niece, Katherine Lindsey Jernigan.
