MARLENE GRAY's Obituary
PERRY –
Marlene Scoggins Gray, 89, passed away peacefully on the morning of Saturday, October 4, 2025, with her beloved husband by her side. Memorial Services will be held on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Perry Methodist Church with Rev. Tom Carruth officiating. Memorial contributions may be made in Marlene’s name to the donor’s favorite charity.
Marlene was born on August 21, 1936, to the late Robert and Edie Abercrombie Scoggins. She was raised in Marietta, Georgia, and graduated from Marietta High School as one of the top students in her class. She married the love of her life, Larry Gray, and the couple made their home in Bradenton, Florida, where they lived for many years. After working as an X-Ray Technician for a brief time, Marlene worked as an Administrative Assistant in various industries but spent most of her career as the Executive Secretary to the Director of Finance at Tropicana Products. In 2006, the Grays moved to Perry, Georgia, where Marlene was a member of Perry Methodist Church and faithfully attended with her husband until her health would no longer allow it. A reserved and classy lady all of her life, Marlene was forever a wonderful example of a devoted Christian, wife, mother, and friend.
Marlene was predeceased by her parents; her stepfather, Ed McCollum; several aunts, including Nellie Abercrombie and Nettie Matthews; and an uncle.
Left to cherish the memories they made with Marlene are her loving and devoted husband of seventy years, Larry G. Gray of Perry; her daughter and son-in-law, Jeannie and Donnie Davis of Lenoir City, Tennessee; two granddaughters, Ashley Ouellette (Thomas) of Lenoir City, Tennessee, and Katie Davis of Lakewood Ranch, Florida; and two great-grandchildren, Penelope Ouellette and Henry Ouellette.
Condolences for the family may be left in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
