Marilyn Sue Webber Smith, 85, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 28, 2025. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 31, 2025, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Watson-Hunt Funeral Home in Perry, Georgia. A Graveside Service will be held on Monday, November 3, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. at Rolling Hills Memory Gardens in Acworth, Georgia, where she will be laid to rest next to the love of her life, Robin Smith. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions to A Helping Hand Food Ministry at Free Point Church, 1929 Marshallville Road, Perry, GA 31069, www.freepointchurch.org, or Macon Rescue Mission, 6601 Zebulon Road, Macon, GA 31220.
Born on November 25, 1939, in Dalghren, Illinois, Marilyn led a life marked by determination and kindness. She graduated from Dalghren High School before pursuing higher education. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree from The University of New York and later, fulfilling a personal goal, earned a Master's Degree in Law from John Marshall Law School, earning the distinction of the oldest graduate in her class at age 60. Marilyn’s career spanned various roles, including supporting her husband’s construction business and serving as a paralegal for over a decade in downtown Atlanta. Marilyn moved to the Perry, Georgia, area to be near family in 2019. She loved baking cookies for others and herself. She was an experienced seamstress having made her own wedding dress and many costumes for her granddaughter, Chelsea. She had strong feelings for her family, helping whenever needed. She was instrumental in helping her son establish a food pantry at Free Point Church in Perry, where she attended until her health would no longer allow. She will be greatly missed.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her loving husband of 46 years, Robin Franklin Smith; her parents, August Robert Webber and Audrey Irene Cook Webber; and two brothers, Art Webber and Ronnie Webber.
Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Douglas and Christina Smith of Perry, and Todd and Tommie Smith of Acworth; one granddaughter, Chelsea Smith; her sisters, Wilma Cross (Paul Everett) of Dalghren, Illinois, and Nancy Herzing (Jim) of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; her brother, Bill Webber; and many, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, and great-great-nephews.
