Marie Henzler's Obituary
PERRY-
Marie Christina Russell Henzler, 83, peacefully slipped into the arms of her beloved Savior and Lord Jesus Christ at sunset on Wednesday, November 13, 2013. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Perry. A Visitation will be held on Friday, November 15, 2013, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Watson-Hunt Funeral Home.
Marie was born on March 7, 1930. She graduated from Temple University High School, and the Philadelphia Biblical University. She also attended Northwestern Schools and Bob Jones University. She earned a Master's degree from Andersonville Baptist Seminary. She became active in Christian camping and helping the needy at a very young age. She married F. D. "Doc" Henzler on August 14, 1953. Upon his graduation, they immediately entered the ministry. Marie was not only very supportive but active in all of his ministries as pastor, camp director, Bible college instructor and church planter. She was known as a cheerful, loving woman; and a dynamic Bible teacher for women and children.
When he was stepping down from being a Director with Baptist Church Planters, they were asked to serve as Chaplains with the Perry Police Department in 2000. Soon after that, they began to help the chaplain from the Houston County Sheriff's Office. Upon his retirement, they both became the Chaplains for the H. C. S. O. Marie continued to actively serve as HCSO Chaplain until she suffered a stroke on October 21st, and subsequently fatal fall on November 13th.
Left to cherish the memories of Marie are her loving husband of 61 years, F. D. "Doc" Henzler of Perry; her children, Rick Henzler of Tarpon Springs, FL, Mark Henzler (Diane) of Managua, Nicaragua, Mitzi Henzler Hall (Greg) of Conyers, and Lois Henzler of Newport Richey, FL; her sister, Lucille Lewis (Dinny) of Honey Brook, PA; 8 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
