PERRY –
Marie Cross Brooks, 81, passed away peacefully in the early hours of Thursday, June 1, 2023. A viewing will be held Saturday, June 3, 2023, starting at 7 p.m. at Christ’s Sanctified Holy Church. Services will be held on Sunday, June 4, 2023, at Christ’s Sanctified Holy Church. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until 1:45 p.m., and the Funeral will begin at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be in the Church Cemetery immediately following the service.
Marie was born in Mobile, Alabama, to the late Alexander Ashely Cross and Minnie Handley Cross.
As a child, Marie moved frequently, while her Father built churches for Christ’s Sanctified Holy Church. She spent most of her childhood in Jacksonville, Florida. After being a loving mother and grandmother, two of Marie’s most favorite jobs were working for the American Red Cross and eventually Publix, in Jacksonville, where she absolutely loved working for 20 years.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother-in-law, Bob Perry, Perry, GA.
Left to cherish the memories they made with Marie are her daughter; Christi England (David) of St. Augustine, FL and grandchildren Alex England, and Ashli England (Vance Buttleman); sister, JoAnn Collier (Charles) of Jacksonville, FL; brother, Walter Cross of Perry, GA; sister-in-law, Rachel Cross of Perry, GA and Joyce Perry of Perry, GA along with many nieces and nephews whom she loved with all her heart.
