Margie Pitts Holcomb, 77, passed away on Saturday, July 26, 2014, after an extended illness. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, July 28, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel at Watson-Hunt Funeral Home. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery immediately following the service. Visitation will be on Sunday, July 27, 2014, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Watson-Hunt Funeral Home. A Memorial Service will be held for her extended family on Saturday, August 30, 2014, at 6:00 p.m. in Kentucky at the Family Farm, 5161 Highway 713 - Hawkinsbranch Road, Frenchburg, Kentucky 40322. Memorial contributions may be made to Loaves and Fishes, 733 Carroll Street, Perry, Georgia 31069.
Born Margie Kathryn Pitts in Powell County, Kentucky, Margie grew up on the family farm in Frenchburg, Menifee County, Kentucky. In 1965, she came to Perry and worked as many as three jobs at a time to support her family. During her career as a bookkeeper, she worked for The Houston Home Journal; Fouchette, Allen, and Parker; Ed Beckham; Dot Roughton and Emmett Cater at Green Acres Discount; Lasseter Furniture; Stanley Furniture; Earl Lewis and Wilbur King; and most recently with Myers Construction. She was preceded in death by her parents, Steve Pitts and Mazie Skidmore Carter; and her first husband, John Myers.
Left to cherish the memories of Margie are her children, Lana Myers Moore of Gray, Marty Myers of Perry, and Stephanie Holcomb Haynes (Mark) of Bonaire; her grandchildren, Jessica Mullins, Dorothy Fuller, Elizabeth Drew, Macie Haynes, and Aidan Haynes; her great-grandchildren, Rosanna Baker and Sierra Leuenberger; her brother, Kenneth Pitts (Carol) of Means, Kentucky; her sisters, Anita Bolt (David) of Anderson, South Carolina and Betty Langston (M.L.) of Cedartown, Georgia; and several nieces and nephews.
