Margaret Barbara 'Margie' Franklin's Obituary

Margaret Barbara "Margie" Franklin, 92, passed away on Sunday, August 2, 2015, at Autumn Terrace, Perry, Georgia. The Funeral Service will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 5, 2015, at St. Patrick Catholic Church with Deacon Ralph McAtee officiating. The Committal Service will follow at Perry Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 10:45 p.m. on Wednesday, August 5, 2015, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, preceding the Funeral Service. The family may be contacted at the home of Randy Franklin. The family respectfully suggests contributions to St. Patrick Catholic Church or a charity of the donor's preference.
Mrs. Franklin was born in Long Island City, New York, on November 10, 1922, to the late Vincenso and Rossina Mauro. Margaret proudly served her country in the Women's Army Corps during World War II, where she served as telephone operator during the Ally Occupation of Europe after the war. She was honorably discharged in 1947. Margaret lived in Perry since 1968, having moved from Macon. She loved playing golf and fishing. Mrs. Franklin was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church.
Mrs. Franklin was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, McKinley S. Franklin. She is survived by her three sons, Randy Franklin (Karen) of Perry, David Franklin (Diane) of Milledgeville, and Mike Franklin (Bonnie) of Perry; her grandchildren, Steven Franklin (Nicole), Courtney Phillips, Kent Franklin, Brad Franklin, Chris Franklin (Jenny), Matthew Franklin, Carsten Franklin, and Kelly Franklin; great-grandchildren, Evan Franklin, Coen Franklin, Isla, and Henry Franklin;Kayla Phillips; Mack Franklin; and caregiver Jennie Keigler.
