MAGGIE BRUCE's Obituary
FERNANDINA BEACH, FLORIDA –
Margarite Ann “Maggie” Parham Bruce passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 24, 2026. She was 59 years old. Memorial Services will be held on Friday, January 30, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Amelia Plantation Chapel in Fernandina Beach, Florida. For those family and friends unable to attend the service, it will be livestreamed through the church at https://ameliaplantationchapel.subspla.sh/ff3nnyj. Flowers will be gratefully accepted, or contributions may be made in memory of Maggie to United in Pink, 125 Plantation Centre Drive S., Building 500, Suite A, Macon, GA 31210.
Maggie grew up in Macon, the daughter of the late Jack and Barbara McCook Parham. She graduated from Southwest High School with the Class of 1984 and received her undergraduate degree from Wesleyan College. In 1995, she married the love of her life, James Bruce. Maggie was a homemaker, working continuously to create a caring and supportive environment in which to raise their children. While her children were young, she earned a Master of Business Administration and a Specialist’s Degree in Education, both from Liberty University. After being a homemaker and a stay-at-home mom until their youngest child started school, Maggie began her career as a teacher with the Bibb County School System. She retired as an Administrator after fifteen years in Education. She made a huge impact and was well-loved by all, students and colleagues, alike.
Maggie was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2019 and began the fight of her life. She was determined to survive and set out to raise money for local breast cancer organizations. While the illness slowed her pace, it did not define her. Maggie still lived life to the fullest. Once they were “empty nesters,” James and Maggie moved to Fernandina Beach, Florida, where she was a member of Amelia Plantation Chapel. Her family was her greatest passion in life, and she treasured the time they spent together.
Maggie was predeceased by her parents, Jack and Barbara McCook Parham.
Left to cherish the memories they made with Maggie are her loving and devoted husband of thirty years, James Bruce of Fernandina Beach, Florida; her children, Chadd Bruce (Christina) of Evans, Georgia, Kennedy McCrory (Drew) of Perry, Georgia, and Steele Bruce of Atlanta, Georgia; her brother, Jackie Parham of Eastman, Georgia; several nieces and nephews; and her faithful, furry, four-legged companions, Marley and Bennett.
Condolences for the family may be left in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home in Perry, Georgia, has been entrusted with the arrangements.
