Visitation will be on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at the church, the hour preceding the service. Interment will be in Union Baptist Church Cemetery in Wilcox County immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests donations to Perry Presbyterian Church, P. O. Box 574, Perry, GA 31069.
Mrs. McKinley was born in Cordele to the late Marion and Cornelia Patterson Waggoner. A homemaker, she was a wonderful cook, always cooking for her family. She particularly enjoyed Saturday night gatherings for grilled hamburgers and her wonderful potato salad. A long-time, active member of Perry Presbyterian Church, Mrs. McKinley was a member of the Mary Ann Hunt Sunday School Class. She was a teacher for the Wee Wisdom Playschool/Kindergarten program at Perry Presbyterian Church for several years. She was an avid bridge player for years, participating with several different groups in Perry. She enjoyed travelling with her sister-in-law all over the United States, and in 1984, to Europe together. Her first love, though, was her family. "Grandma" was always thrilled to spend time with her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren, who will miss her terribly. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman McKinley, and a brother, Alfred Waggoner.
Left to cherish the memories of Mrs. McKinley are her children, Mike McKinley (Carolyn) of Warm Springs, Russ McKinley (Lynn) of Perry, and Ken McKinley (Jennifer) of Cordele; her brother, Wendall Waggoner of Newnan; her sister-in-law, Betty Waggoner of Thomaston; her grandchildren, Scott McKinley (Terri) of Patterson, California, Molly McKinley Farmer (Brandon) of Perry, Matthew McKinley (Molly) of Athens, and Kelly McKinley of Warner Robins; her great-grandchildren, Sophia Grace Farmer and Isabella Ruth Farmer; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
