Louise Youngblood Bentz's Obituary
PERRY- Louise Youngblood Bentz, 87, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 6, 2018, at The Oaks Nursing Home in Marshallville. The family will visit with friends on Thursday, August 9, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. at Watson-Hunt Funeral Home, and the Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in Perry Memorial Gardens immediately following the service. Mrs. Louise was born in Florella, Alabama, to the late John Bragg Harrison and the late Lelar Rebecca Heath Harrison. She grew up on a rural farm in Alabama, one of eleven children. She helped with the crops on the farm, learning about the various growing seasons and harvesting techniques. As a young child, Mrs. Louise began taking care of her siblings and the household, in general, which she knew she would love to do for the rest of her life. Mrs. Youngblood, as she was known by families throughout Perry, opened her home to children of working parents, and she operated a day care center from her home for many years. She enjoyed cooking and canning through the years, serving and preserving fruits and vegetables that she had grown in her own garden. She truly had a “green thumb,” as there were always beautiful flowers blooming in her yard, too. Honey was added to her list of successes when she and Mr. Youngblood “worked” their bees, a project they enjoyed doing together. Mrs. Louise won several awards at the Georgia National Fair for her jams, knitting, “soft” children’s books, and other categories over the 25-year period in which she entered their contests. She was a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Perry and was a member of the Joy Sunday School Class. She was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, William O’Neil “Neal” Youngblood; her husband of 12 years, Vernon William Bentz; 5 brothers; and 2 sisters. Left to cherish the memories they made with Mrs. Louise are her sons and daughters-in-law, Bill and Susan Youngblood of Macon, and Jeff and Donna Youngblood of Savannah; her grandchildren, Neil Youngblood (Ashley), Edith Lynn Youngblood, and Megan Wilbur (Tim); her great-grandchildren, Shelby Youngblood, Jeffery Wilbur, and Braydon Wilbur; her brother, Jimmy Earl Harrison, his sisters, Dolly Thomas and Jeannie Harrison; many nieces and nephews; and her special caregiver/friend of nearly 42 years, Janet Little. Condolences for the family may be left in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
