LONNIE H. COOK's Obituary
Lonnie Harold Cook, 74, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, May 7, 2023, after a sudden illness. Visitation will be on Friday, May 12, 2023, from 6:30 until 8:00 p.m. at Sandy Valley Baptist Church in Warner Robins. Funeral Services will be on Saturday, May 13, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at Sandy Valley Baptist Church with Brother Phil Bryant and Pastor Stephen Wood officiating. A private interment will be held in Macon Memorial Park.
Lonnie was born in Byron and lived most of his life in Houston County. He grew up working on the family farm from the time his feet could reach the pedals on the tractor. Lonnie graduated from Perry High School in 1966 and attended technical school. He worked for UPS for ten years, then began working with Stokes Construction for many years. Later in life, he returned to his family farm, realizing how much he enjoyed tilling the soil, nurturing the seeds he planted, and harvesting the crops each season. He was a member of Sandy Valley Baptist Church. Lonnie thoroughly enjoyed spending time in his shop working on “his truck,” a 1946 Chevrolet. His children and grandchildren were, however, his whole life. He enjoyed being everyone’s “Pop” or “PopPop.” Lonnie was a friendly man and always made an impression on everyone that he met.
Lonnie was preceded in death by his parents, Harold Walter and Margaret Louise Arnold Cook; his granddaughter, Brittany Cook; and a brother-in-law, Wendell Ratterree.
Left to cherish the memories they made with Lonnie are his loving and devoted wife of twenty-seven years, Monica Cook of Haynesville; his children, Kimberly Armhold (George) of New York, Lonnie Cook, Jr. (Kathy) of Lizella, and Kayle Cook (Dawn) of Warner Robins; his step-children, Rebekah Waymack (Matt), Theresa Tomlinson, and Elizabeth Irby (Gene); twenty-three grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; his siblings, Emily Ratterree, Shelby Duffy (Andy), Mary Frances Thompson (Robert), and Charles “Buster” Cook (Susan); many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; and his four-legged, furry friend, Cat Cook.
Condolences for the family may be left in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
