Leroy was born in Hawkinsville to the late James and Sybil Atkins Singleton. A longtime resident of Perry, he graduated from Perry High School. He was the owner and operator of three successful businesses, Singleton Auto Sales, Singleton Service Center, and Singleton Towing, all in downtown Perry for nearly fifty years. He was a hard-working, honest man, full of integrity, and he instilled those same qualities into his children throughout their lives by continuously reminding them that “you earn what you get out of life.” Mr. Leroy was a member of First Baptist Church of Haynesville and was also a member of the Senior Adult Men’s Sunday School Class. He was a caring, loving, and devoted father, husband, grandfather, and friend and will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Mr. Leroy was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of thirty-nine years, Judy Morris Singleton; his brother, Jimmy Singleton; and his son-in-law, Rex Smith.
Left to cherish the memories they made with Leroy are his wife of thirteen years, Gail Singleton of Perry; his daughter, Kathy Smith of Byron; his son and daughter-in-law, Lee and Yvonne Singleton of Perry; his stepson, Todd Peaster (Lindsay) of Madison; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his sister, Mae Mullis (Jerry) of Kathleen; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Condolences for the family may be left in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
