LEELEE LEWIS's Obituary
ELKO, GA –
Leelee Murphy Lewis passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, after an extended illness. She was 73. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 24, 2025, at 1:00 p.m., at Perry Methodist Church. A Reception and Visitation will be in the Fellowship Hall immediately following the service. After the reception, interment will take place in Perry Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions be made to Perry Methodist Church, 1002 Carroll Street, Perry, GA 31069.
Leelee was a cherished lifetime resident of Houston County. She graduated from Perry High School in 1970 and went on to earn both her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Elementary Education from Georgia Southwestern College. Leelee dedicated 30 years to teaching, primarily focusing on first grade. She began her teaching career in Peach County and later served the children of Houston County, retiring after a successful and fulfilling career.
Leelee was deeply connected to her community through various activities. She was a member of Perry Methodist Church, where she was also part of the Christadelphian Sunday School Class and the Methodist Women's Group. Her commitment to service was evident in her volunteer work including delivering Meals on Wheels and participating in organizations including the Sogadera Club of Perry, Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), United Daughters of the Confederacy (UDC), and Real Granddaughters of the Confederacy. Leelee leaves behind a legacy of commitment to education and community service.
Leelee was preceded in death by her parents, Averille Lee Murphy and Dorothy McCrimmon Murphy.
Left to cherish the memories they made with Leelee are her loving and devoted husband of forty-seven years, Bobby Lewis of Elko; her sons and daughters-in-law, Brian and Laurie Lewis of Elko, and Matt and Erica Lewis of Juliette; and her grandchildren, Hunter, Alli, and Colton Lewis, and Jonathan and Ian Lewis.
