Lee Jackson III's Obituary
Age 67, a resident of Hope Hull, AL passed away on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at his home. Lee Graduated from University Military School in 1966. He attended the University of Alabama where he was an ROTC cadet and member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity. Lee graduated from the University of Alabama in 1971. He commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army in 1971. He graduated as Honor Graduate from Armor Officer's Basic Course at Ft. Knox, KY in 1971. He was branch detailed to Motor Transportation in 1971. He attended Motor Officer's Course at Ft. Eustis, VA and graduated as Honor Graduate in 1971. He was stationed at Ft. McClellan, AL from 1972-74. He promoted to First Lieutenant in 1973. He was stationed in Worms, Germany from 1974-1976. Lee shot on the 3rd Army Marksmanship Team as a Pistol Shooter. He was promoted Captain in 1975. He was Honorably Discharged from Active Duty United States Army as a Captain in 1976. He established Grout Incorporated in 1980 , owned and operated Grout, Incorporated until his death. He was an avid outdoors man. Lee enjoyed hunting, fishing, and shooting. He traveled to Wyoming, South Dakota, New Mexico, Texas, and Montana Hunting. He enjoyed cooking and developing recipes. Lee was awarded Best Seafood Dish at the Alabama Wildlife Federation Tri-County Wild Game Cook-Off in 2008. He regularly supported charities including Wounder Warrior Foundation, St. Jude Children's Hospital, Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Boy Scouts of America, and the Shriner's. He was preceded in death by his son, Fitzhugh Lee Jackson IV. He is survived by his children, Benton F. Jackson and Hamilton Edward Jackson, brother, James "Jimmy" Henry Jackson, grandchild, Brooke Evelyn Jackson, nieces, nephews, other relatives and numerous close friends. Funeral service will be held at Serenity Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at 12 noon with visitation from 11 am until service time. Interment will be in Serenity Memorial Gardens.
