First time I went to Memphis for the Elvis Week celebration in the early '90s, who should pop up but in the same motel as me, but Lee! I hadn't seen him since I left California ten years earlier, but he acted like we had seen each other yesterday.
Lee told me that despite the outward hokiness that many people saw in the event, there was almost nothing but positive energy because the fans loved Elvis, and this was where they came once a year to express that love.
He said that if I left my cynicism in my hotel room, I would have a wonderful time.
I did as he said and did, indeed, have a wonderful time.
'Nuff said?
