LaWanna Kelly Welch's Obituary
LaWanna Kelly Welch, of Fort Valley, went to be her heavenly father on Monday, June 28, 2021, just eight days after she celebrated her 76th birthday. Services will be held on Friday, July 2, 2021, at Christ’s Sanctified Holy Church in the Chapel. Family members will greet friends starting at 2:00 p.m., with the Funeral services to begin at 3:00 p.m. Graveside services will immediately follow and will be held at Christ’s Sanctified Holy Church Campground Cemetery.
LaWanna was born in Norfolk, Virginia, to the now late Charles Striplin and Elsie Alderman Kelly. She served the Lord and her church faithfully her whole life. LaWanna found her purpose in life was being able to take care of people that needed her. That didn’t stop with people, LaWanna provided food for the animals she cared for in her home, and any strays that might need a meal. Out of all of her accomplishments, LaWanna cherished being a stay-at-home mother the most. Along with her parents, LaWanna was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh Oliver Welch, Jr., her son, Marcus Anthony Welch, her brother, Charles Kelly, and her sister, Mary Ellen Copeland.
Left to cherish the memories they shared with LaWanna are her son, Michael Lynwood Welch (Chrissy) of Rochelle; her grandchildren, Hunter Welch of Pooler, Dylan Welch of Byron; her great-grand child, Emerson Welch of Pooler; and her sister-in-law’s, Carolyn Lockhart of Jacksonville, and Marian Corn of Fort Valley.
Condolences for the family may be left in our online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements for the family of LaWanna Welch.
