LAVERNE DANIELS COOK's Obituary
FORT VALLEY -
Ellen Laverne (Daniels) Cook, 82, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 15, 2026. Graveside Services will be held on Friday, April 17, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. in Perry Memorial Gardens in Perry. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions to the Alzheimer's Association, 3040 Riverside Drive, Macon, GA 31210.
Laverne was always known for her vibrant spirit and ceaseless energy. A graduate of Vienna High School, Laverne dedicated many years of her life as a Payroll Clerk for the Houston County Board of Education, where she was respected for her diligence and precision. Laverne's love for the outdoors was evident in her beautifully landscaped home. Maintaining it was a hobby she enjoyed alongside her husband, Gene. Her lawn and garden, filled with daylilies, azaleas, and many of her other favorites, were her sanctuary, and the sight of hummingbirds there brought her immense joy. Having lived in Fort Valley for over 40 years, Laverne was a member of Crossroad Bible Church.
Laverne was preceded in death by her parents, Barney Daniels and Lessie Mae (Bellflower) Daniels; and her siblings, Paul Daniels, Coot Daniels, Bill Daniels, Gene Daniels, and Irma Wynn.
Left to cherish the memories they made with Laverne are her loving and devoted husband of 61 years, Gene Cook; her sons and daughters-in-law, Chris and Tonya Cook of Haddock, and Michael and Wendy Cook of Reynolds; her grandchildren, Harley Weeks (Hunter), Taylor Hayslip (Lane), Sydney McDaniel (Wesley), and Kade Cook; her great-grandchildren, Riley Weeks, Ridge Hayslip, Ruby Hayslip, and Millie McDaniel; her brother, Cecil Daniels; her sister-in-law, Pat Daniels; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Condolences for the family may be left in the online guestbook at https://www.watsonhunt.com. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home in Perry has been entrusted with the arrangements.
