PERRY –
Kelly Michelle Butts Germundsen, 43, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 18, 2023, after an extended illness. Services will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2023, at Crossroads Methodist Church. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., and a Celebration of Life Service will begin at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions to the National Kidney Foundation, 830 Glenwood Avenue, Suite 510, Box 405, Atlanta, GA 30316.
Kelly was born in Goldsboro, North Carolina, and lived in several different states with her family while her father was in the Air Force. They settled in Perry when Kelly began the 9th grade at Perry High School. Kelly attended Crossroads Methodist Church and worked in the Nursery. She graduated from PHS in 1998 and went on to continue her education at Macon State College, studying Early Childhood Education. Once she changed her major to Nursing, she attended Central Georgia Technical College. Life got in the way of her education, and Kelly began working in the retail storage industry, managing climate-controlled storage facilities in Warner Robins. Unfortunately, her health began to decline at an early age. She also worked at Mother’s Morning Out at Crossroads Methodist Church. Kelly loved to travel to the beach, the mountains, and especially enjoyed visiting family in Ohio. She and her daughter, Gracie, loved country music and would often sing together. The bond between mother and daughter is very special, and Gracie is sure to treasure the memories of the fabulous trip they took together with their best friends to the mountains of Tennessee, where they sang in the car, ate at various delicious restaurants, viewed magnificent works of God in the landscape they drove past, and made amazing memories while Kelly was still active and in good condition to travel. Kelly was a terrific daughter, a loving mother, and a good friend to many.
Kelly was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents; her uncles, Jeff Cunningham and Larry Butts; and a cousin, Misty Butts.
Left to cherish the memories they made with Kelly are her precious daughter, Gracie Germundsen of Perry; her devoted parents, Mike and Cheryl Butts of Perry; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Condolences for the family may be left in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
