Kathleen 'Kathy' Prickett Powers' Obituary
Kathleen "Kathy" Prickett Powers, 65, passed away peacefully at her home on March 28, 2014, after an extended illness. Funeral Services will be on Monday, March 31, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Perry with Pastor Gary Kauffman and Reverend Christie Bandy officiating. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery immediately following the service. Visitation will be on Sunday, March 30, 2014, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Watson-Hunt Funeral Home in Perry. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions to Heart of Georgia Hospice, 1120 Morningside Drive, Perry, Georgia 31069.
Kathy was born in Mt. Holley, New Jersey, and moved to Marshallville in 1972. She worked as a Business Office Administrator at Edward Jones for Chris Kinnas for the past 11 years. Kathy had such a sweet personality and a kind spirit and was always willing to help in any way. She thoroughly enjoyed her horses and her dogs. Through the years, she was a competitive barrel racer earning numerous ribbons and trophies. Famous statewide for her equestrian knowledge and expertise, Kathy was a member and former President of the Houston County Saddle Club, a member and former Treasurer of the Heart of Georgia Saddle Club, and a member and former Treasurer and Vice President of the Georgia Federation of Saddle Clubs. She was a member of Marshallville United Methodist Church.
Left to cherish the memories of Kathy are her loving and devoted husband of 43 years, Fred Powers of Marshallville; her son and daughter-in-law, Matthew and Donna Powers of Marshallville; her grandchildren, Cody Bodrey, Ryan Powers, Matthew Powers, and Jeremy Powers; her mother, Mildred Prickett of Perry; her siblings, Joetta Hughes (Charles) of Marshallville, Lyman Prickett, Jr. (Sharon) of Kathleen, Michael Prickett (Donna) of Hawkinsville, Robin Herring (Steve) of Perry, and Andy Prickett (BillieAnn) of Leesburg; and many nieces and nephews.
