PERRY –
Kathie Fordham Corry, 77, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, with loving family by her side. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, July 6, 2024, at First Baptist Church of Perry. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., and the Funeral will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Bobby Nix officiating. Interment will be in Perry Memorial Gardens immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions to American Cancer Society, 270 Peachtree Street NW, Suite 1300, Atlanta, GA 30303.
Kathie was born on September 19, 1946, the daughter of the late Edison and Nannie Lee Stripling Fordham. She grew up in Dublin and moved to Perry in 1972. Kathie was a Medical Records Transcriptionist for Houston Healthcare Complex at Perry Hospital for over thirty years. As is evidenced by the length of time she worked there, Kathie enjoyed her job and the friends she made there through the years. She was a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Perry where she was actively involved, especially when her daughters were young. As her family grew and her grandchildren came along, Kathie spent a great deal of time catering to them, attending all of their sporting events and activities. She will always be remembered as that special grandmother who would get up in the middle of the night, awakened by a grandchild who was hungry, and cook a pan of bacon. Kathie was lovingly referred to by her grandchildren as “Nana.” Later in life, Thursday nights were reserved for playing Rummy with her card group. Additionally, she enjoyed traveling all over the state for day trips to eat at special restaurants, particularly seafood.
Kathie was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Ann Hinson.
Left to cherish the memories they made with Kathie are her daughters and sons-in-law, Tamara and John Davidson of Perry, and Cassandra and Carl Dixon, also of Perry; her grandchildren, Sara Ambrose (Austin), Megan Mattingly (Joby), and Hunter Belflower (Alexis); her great-grandchildren, Harli Kate Mattingly, Harper Mattingly, and Michael Belflower; and two nieces, one nephew, and their families.
Condolences for the family may be left in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
