Katherine Kovac Little's Obituary
PERRY –
Katherine Kovac Little, 77, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 12, 2020, after she bravely fought an extended illness. During the national pandemic and while restrictions are placed on the number of people at a gathering, there will be a Private Graveside Service for the family in Perry Memorial Gardens this week. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
Katherine was born in Kathleen at the home of her parents, the late Mary Sercer and Joe Kovac, Sr. She went to Perry High School where she enjoyed playing on the basketball team. Soon after high school, she married and the couple had 3 children. They moved to Augusta where Katherine was a seamstress at Levi Strauss for over 15 years. As life would have it, the family divided after nearly 20 years, and Katherine returned to Perry. She took a job at New Perry Hotel under the direction of her mother who worked there for 50 years. She worked hard as a single mother to provide for her children. After settling back into her hometown, she began dating Clarence Little who always had a crush on Katherine in high school and married him in 1980. He closed the Flea Market he owned, and the two of them founded and operated Little’s Bait, Tackle, and Pawn until they retired. They enjoyed most of their time together fishing and watching their favorite, Atlanta Braves. Most every holiday or family birthday, Katherine and Clarence hosted a celebration for the entire family, which included all of the blended family’s 8 children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, their siblings, and often, friends. She loved BIG, was one of a kind, and always honestly spoke her mind.
Katherine was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, JoAnn Kovac Richardson; William Britt, Sr., the father of her children; a grandson, Matthew Little; and her loving and devoted husband of nearly 40 years, Rufus Clarence Little, Sr.
Left to cherish the memories of their “Mema” are her children, John Britt, Jr. (Neyda), Bridgette Britt Bennett (Hubert), Kathy Britt Todd (Ben Wright), Julie Little Cawthon (Jim), Angel Little Logan (Kenny), Greg Little (Kandy), Rufus Little, Jr., and Tim Little (Nikki); her grandchildren, Chelsea Bennett, Joey McKellar, Dylan Todd, Trey Cawthon, Lacey Cawthon, Stephanie Sapp, Joshua Sapp, Brandon Sapp, Jonathan Little, Ethan Little, Traci Lee Little, Ashley Little, and Sean Little; 15 great-grandchildren; her sister, Frances Davis; her brother, Joe Kovac, Jr.; her in-laws, Bennie Little (Bonnie), Caroline Little, and Nell Little; and many nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
Condolences for the family may be left in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
