KAREN MARIE SEAMAN's Obituary
PERRY, GEORGIA -
Karen Marie Seaman, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed peacefully in her sleep on Monday morning, January 26, 2026, after a years-long battle with Parkinson’s disease. She was born in Moline, Illinois, on February 5, 1948, to Glenn Chester Seaman and Marie Edwidge Seaman (LaBine). Karen was raised in Moline, where she spent most of her life before relocating to Kathleen, Georgia, in 2017, to live with her son and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Jack Seaman and Gary Seaman; her sister, Sharon Ryerson (Seaman); and her niece, Stacy Yeater (Ryerson).
She is survived by her only child, Jason Anthony Seaman, and her two cherished grandchildren, Piper Seaman and Cooper Seaman, all of whom reside in Kathleen, Georgia; as well as multiple nieces and nephews throughout the country.
Karen devoted her professional life to John Deere Harvester in East Moline, Illinois, starting at age 19 and completing more than 25 years of service prior to her retirement. Over the course of her career, she held several roles, including Data Entry Operator in the Service Parts Department, Keypunching Operator in the Computer Systems Department, and later, Shipping Clerk in the Shipping and Receiving Department. Her work ethic, reliability, and dedication were hallmarks of her career.
A woman of deep faith, Karen was raised in and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Moline, Illinois. As an adult, she became a devoted member of Second Baptist Church in Rock Island, Illinois, where she worshiped alongside her lifelong best friend, Patricia ‘Pati’ Finch (Bates).
Karen was a master in the kitchen and found great joy in cooking and baking for those she loved. She also enjoyed reading, knitting, running, biking, and walking - often seen strolling the streets in Moline. She loved Jazzercise and later, while living in Georgia, stayed active through Silver Sneakers. Above all, she delighted in spoiling her grandchildren and spending time with family.
Karen was a wonderful soul - kind, active, faithful, and deeply loved by everyone who knew her. Her warmth, strength, and quiet grace will be profoundly missed.
Celebrations of Life will be held in both Georgia and Illinois. Details will be shared by her son through friends and loved ones.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Karen’s memory to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
Condolences for the family may be left in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
