Julian Garrison 'Jay' Fullmore's Obituary
Life Legacy
PERRY-Julian Garrison "Jay" Fullmore, 71, left his Earthly body and was welcomed into Jesus' arms on August 25, 2017, after an extended illness. A Service to celebrate his life will be held on Tuesday, August 29, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel at Watson-Hunt Funeral Home with a visitation just prior to the service at 10:00 a.m. A burial with Full Military Honors will be held at Andersonville National Cemetery in Andersonville, Georgia, following the service. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to FOPAS https://www.fopas.org/ or to the Wounded Warrior Project https://support.woundedwarriorproject.org/.Jay retired from the United States Air Force as an aircraft engineer after proudly serving his country for 20 years. After his retirement in 1985, he joined Northrop and then the Department of Defense and continued his faithful aid for another 20 years, retiring in 2005. Never one to sit still, he then began volunteering at the Robins Air Force Base Museum of Aviation reconstructing retired and out-of-commission aircraft. After several years with the Museum, he also began volunteer work and he headed up the build-out of the Non-Profit FOPAS (Friends of Perry Animal Shelter) where he helped out every morning until his health took a turn in 2014. During his time at FOPAS, he and his wife, Ethel, adopted his best friends - 3 homeless and abandoned dogs. He thoroughly enjoyed his time at FOPAS and looked forward to being "The Big White Dog" in the Perry Christmas Parade every year. One of his prized possessions was his FOPAS hat covered with various pins which he lovingly referred to as the "First FOPAS hat ever made."More importantly than his career was his love of his family. Jay had 12 brothers and sisters. During his military career he traveled to many continents, several countries and was often away from his wife, daughters, parents, and siblings. Upon retirement from the Air Force, he returned to the heart of his family - Middle Georgia. Left to cherish the memories of Jay are his loving wife of 17 years, Ethel Harper Fullmore of Perry; his children, Shannon R. Julian of Perry, Dawn Molina (Charles) of Apple Valley, CA; his "Bonus" Children, Lynne Gibbs, Darrin Bryant (Karen), and Robin Bryant, all of Perry; the "apples of his eye" - his grandchildren - Aundrea Molina of Fresno, CA, Chase Molina of Apple Valley, CA, Lindsay Brand, Austin Brand, Jimmy Gibbs, and Johnny Gibbs, all of Perry, and Cody Gibbs of Athens; his siblings, Randy Fullmore of Warner Robins, Hope Pittman (Butch) of Kathleen, and Albert Fullmore of Ocala, Florida, Betty Hamlin of Macon, Cliff Fullmore of Eatonton, and Josephine Cummings (Billy) of Butler; and a myriad of nieces and nephews; the mother of his children, former wife, and dear friend, Jean Fullmore of Byron; his little buddies, Brody the dachshund, Sheba the pekingese, and Caile the shih tzu; as well as a host of grand-dogs.Condolences for the family may be left in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the local arrangements.
