PERRY-Judy Moss Merritt, 72, passed away on Thursday, September 7, 2017, after a brave and courageous battle with cancer. The family will visit with friends on Saturday, September 9, 2017, from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. at Watson-Hunt Funeral Home. A Graveside Service will follow at 3:30 p.m. in Perry Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions to Houston Lake Baptist Church, 2300 GA Hwy. 127, Perry, GA 31069 or Al Sihah Shrine Temple Children's Hospital, P.O. Box 3147, Macon, GA 31205-3147.Judy was born in Byron to the late Thomas and Mildred Wood Moss. She grew up in Alpharetta where she graduated from high school. After technical college, Judy moved to Perry, where she had lived since 1968. She was a bookkeeper and had worked at Blue-Bird and Davis Oil Company before retiring from Security Bank. Judy was a member of Houston Lake Baptist Church and a past member of the Tag-A-Longs, the wives of the Perry Shrine Club's Cut-Ups. Judy dearly loved her sons. She also loved and cherished all of the loved ones and friends who were there for her during her many illnesses. She had one special word she would always use if you startled or scared her. If you knew Judy, you know the special word. She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, James W. "Bill" Merritt, Sr.; her husband James L. "Jim" Ervin of 19 months; her sister, Margaret Wilson; and her brother, Edward Moss.Left to cherish the memories of their angel, Judy, are her loving and devoted sons, Jim Merritt and Jeff Merritt, both of Perry; her sister, Linda Murphy (Milton) of Bonaire; her nieces and nephews, Wendy Abbott (Rick) of Black Hawk, Colorado, Mickey Murphy (Marie) of Hawkinsville, and Dee Dee Wilson of Rockford, Texas; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
