PERRY – Judith Ann “Judy” Smith Golden passed away peacefully on Friday August 22, 2025, after an extended illness. She was 80 years old. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, August 29, 2025, at Perry Methodist Church. Visitat Read Obituary
Judy's spirit radiated kindness and warmth. Her gift for storytelling brought people together, and her unwavering passion for literacy was truly inspiring. The legacy she built through her dedication to the library will be cherished by many. My heartfelt condolences go out to her husband and family during this difficult time. Losing someone as lovely as Judy is a profound loss for all who knew her.
Judy was a sweet and kind kid I knew from growing up in Perry from 2 to 12th grade. I am sending condolences to her family and friends.
I will always remember Judy for her kindness. All through the years from the library, to having children in the same grade, to Malcolm Moseley teaching swimming lessons in her backyard pool. Judy was always gracious and kind every time I was in her presence. A true southern lady. May thoughts and prayers for all of you.

Judy was a faithful member of the Perry Area Historical Society for many years and served as a docent on the first Tuesday afternoon of each month. She loved Perry history and contributed stories, pictures, and memorabilia to the museum. As Director of the Houston County Library System before retirement, she archived so much of our town’s history and shared it generously with us. She will be remembered for her service to this community and as a friend to so many. We are praying for your family.
